The industry benchmark. Qualifies you to inspect welds against code and sign off on the result — the three-part Part A / B / C examination.
CWS
Certified Welding Supervisor
For the people who run the welding operation — productivity, cost, quality and safety across the shop floor rather than the individual weld. Its own two-part examination under AWS QC13, on a 3-year certificate.
CWE
Certified Welding Educator
A standalone credential for welding instructors — Parts A and B of the CWI examination at a 60% pass mark, on a 4-year certificate. Needs a high school diploma or GED, a welding training programme and 5 years of welding-related experience; it is not an add-on to a CWI.
CWENG
Certified Welding Engineer
The engineering credential: weld design, procedure development, metallurgy and code selection across a whole fabrication.
SCWI
Senior Certified Welding Inspector
