Dr. Bijayani Panda completed her Ph.D degree in the year 2008 from the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Indian Institute Technology Kanpur. She developed a corrosion resistant rail for the Indian Railways during her Ph.D. This rail was successfully manufactured and put to service by the Indian Railways in corrosion prone areas of the country. After her Ph.D she worked in EWAC Alloys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro and later she worked in the Failure Analysis Division of CSIR- National Aerospace Laboratories. She joined CMR Institute of Technology in 2014 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. She worked at CMRIT till November 2022. She is presently working independently as a freelance consultant. Her areas of specialization are corrosion, metallurgical failure analysis and welding metallurgy. While at CMRIT, she has received grants from funding agencies like Department of Science and Technology, (Government of India) and Naval Research Board (Ministry of Defence, Government of India) for pursuing industry relevant projects. She has published academic papers in many international journals and conference proceedings. During her 13+ years of professional experience, she has collaborated with various organizations like NAL, Tata Steel and GTRE.
