United Alloy Inc., headquartered in Janesville, Wisconsin, has issued a letter of intent to bring a welding factory to Harvard.
United Alloy will need to hire at least 20 full-time, experienced welders who live in or near Harvard. The business intends to employ new hires in Wisconsin until the Harvard facility is complete. The company will provide a busing service to and from Harvard.
The new factory is likely to be built in the Arrowhead Industrial Park. United plans to hire 100 welders total in 2018 to support its expansions. In addition to building the Harvard facility, the company plans to add 100,000 sq ft to its existing 238,000 sq ft Wisconsin building.
Harvard plans to work with McHenry County College to create a training program for people interested in the welding career. The course will take about eight weeks. Graduates of the program who are able to pass United Alloy test requirements would be hired by the company. The city plans to host an open house in July or August to provide program specifics.
