Safety in welding is not a decorative accessory, but a mandatory requirement.Welding is a safe occupation when proper precautions are taken. But, if safety measures are ignored, welders face an array of hazards which can be potentially dangerous.Welder should use welding mask, ear plug, hand gloze, apron, leg guard, hand guard & welding screen.
Describe an experience where you took appropriate safety precautions.
For the Kuwait Project, I was welding in the overhead position, as the job was static. Here, we were facing a major spatter issue. But I was well equipped with all the safety measures and thus I could manage to perform the welding without any harm.
What are the major challenges in welding and how can you manage to cope up with the same?
The major challenge in welding is proper penetration though joints. For that, it is very important to maintain the root gap, root face, welding current, filler size, temperature of Job and joints.
Can you please share an incident of a welding job you have come across?
I remember a job wherein I was assigned to shorten the length of 10 nozzles on IGPL (D445) column as per client requirements. It was very tough to work on this job, as it was placed in an open air. Instead of severe weather conditions, I have completed this rework of 10 nozzles successfully.
