L&T to establish Skill Training Hub in President of India’s native place

L&T has inked an MoU with Odisha-based non-profit SLS Trust for setting up a Skill Training Hub at Badampahar in Odisha’s Mayurbanj district. The MoU was inked on 14 March at L&T’s corporate office ‘Landmark’ in Mumbai in the presence of Mr SN Subrahmanyan (CEO & MD – L&T), Ms Meena Subrahmanyan (President – L&T-run non-profit Prayas Trust), Ms Itishree Murmu (Managing Trustee – SLS Trust), Mr Subodh Kumar (Trustee – SLS Trust) and other L&T dignitaries. L&T’s CSR Head Ms Mabel Abraham and Ms Murmu completed the formalities. 

The proposed Skill Training Hub will impart training to youth in basic construction skills such as masonry, bar bending, plumbing, pipe-welding and scaffolding. Training will also be imparted in computer basics, coding and digital skills. This facility will comprise classrooms, state-of-the-art simulators, yards for practical training, and residential accommodation for the trainees. To be established in a predominantly tribal area, the hub will provide the much-needed opportunity for tribal and rural youth to equip themselves with market-ready skills, giving them a springboard to access better careers and move up in life. L&T will implement this project in partnership with SLS Trust which works for the welfare of children, youth, women and senior citizens by undertaking initiatives in education, vocational training, small savings, legal awareness, health, family planning, etc.

L&T signs agreement with McPhy for Electrolyzer Manufacturing

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational engaged in EPC Projects, Hi-Tech Manufacturing and Services, have entered into an Electrolyzer Manufacturing Binding Agreement with McPhy Energy, a France-based leading electrolyzer technology and manufacturing company, for a long-term partnership to explore the opportunities unfolding in the emerging Green Hydrogen market. 

Under this partnership, McPhy will grant an exclusive license of its pressurised alkaline electrolyzer technology to L&T for manufacturing of electrolyzers, including future product upgrades. L&T plans to set up a Gigawatt-scale manufacturing facility for electrolyzers based on McPhy technology in India to serve the domestic requirements as well as cater to the other selected geographies. 

The proposed agreement is in line with L&T’s strategic vision to be present across the green energy value chain and also furthers McPhy’s aim to expand beyond the European market. 

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Subramanian Sarma, Whole Time Director (Energy), L&T said, “The energy industry is undergoing a tectonic shift with Green Hydrogen emerging as a key fuel in the future energy basket. We are delighted to have signed this Agreement with McPhy which will be a win-win partnership given L&T’s strong presence across the entire value chain of manufacturing, EPC and services in the energy sector, and McPhy’s technology and research leadership in this sector”. 

JNPA handles a record cargo of 5.94 Mn TEUs in CY 2022 Cargo Handling

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s best performing Port, has had an ongoing surge in cargo handling in CY 2022 with total container traffic of 5,959,112 TEUs as against 5,631,949 TEUs in CY 2021 growth of 5.81% over last calendar year. JNPA handled 81.1 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo in CY 2022 as against 76.1 MMT in CY 2021 growth of 6.55% over the previous calendar year. The total traffic of 81.1 MMT and container traffic of 5,959,112 million TEUs is the highest-ever traffic handled in a year since the inception of the Port. Appreciating the employees and stakeholders for their dedicated hard work in port performance, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPA, said, “The year 2022 was phenomenal for JNPA as we achieved the milestone of handling the highest ever traffic in Port. The performance of all our terminal operators is noteworthy. Besides, in 2022, we became India’s best-performing Port, the first 100% landlord major port, and being acclaimed with various prestigious awards.” 

PM inaugurates Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro today. He also took a ride in the newly inaugurated metro.

 The Prime Minister unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the White Field Metro Line and proceeded towards the platform to board the Metro. During his journey, he interacted with the workers and staff of Bangalore Metro.

New Holland Agriculture inaugurates state-of-the-art training centre

New Holland Agriculture, a brand of CNH Industrial, has introduced a new training centre in Greater Noida to enhance the technical skills of employees, dealer teams and customers. The facility offers technical and commercial training for tractors, harvesters, and balers. Currently, it has a capacity to train 75 individuals at a time and will be soon increased to 90 trainees in the coming months, for various training programmes.

The knowledge centre is equipped with a virtual reality (VR) space with the latest technology to train operators, as opposed to more traditional in field training, to provide a safe learning environment especially for new operators.

On this occasion, Mr. Narinder Mittal, Managing Director of CNH Industrial – Agriculture Business, India and SAARC said, “We are proud to have established this hi-tech training facility in India as it is the need of the hour. Our purpose has always been to provide solutions to our stakeholders to increase their farm productivity. We are confident that the new training centre will assist our customers, dealer partners, and employees to learn about new technologies. It is also a step towards personalizing our interactions with our customers and better understanding their needs for future product developments.”

The facility offers three different training workshops for live assembly and disassembly on different tractor series. Moreover, offering hands-on training to participants, it also has a crop solutions workshop to handle combine harvesters, square balers and rakes, which makes it a unique facility. Four dedicated trainers for tractors operations and one for crop solution operations will conduct these workshops. They are vastly knowledgeable about the brand’s products available in India.

Godrej & Boyce partners with Renmakch to develop a ‘Make-in-India’ value chain for Indian Railways

PM lays foundation stone and dedicates development projects worth more than Rs. 1780 cr in Varanasi

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated development projects worth more than Rs. 1780 crores in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The projects include laying the foundation stone of the Passenger Ropeway from Varanasi Cantt station to Godowlia, a 55 MLD sewage treatment plant at Bhagwanpur under Namami Ganga Scheme, Phases 2 and 3 of the redevelopment work of Sigra Stadium, an LPG bottling plant at Isarwar village, Sewapuri to be built by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, a primary health center in Bharthara village and floating jetty with changing rooms among others. The Prime Minister also dedicated 19 drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, which will benefit more than 3 lakh people of 63 Gram Panchayats. He also laid the foundation stone of 59 drinking water schemes under the Mission. He also dedicated an integrated pack house in Karkhiyaon for grading, sorting and processing of fruits and vegetables. He also dedicated various projects under the Varanasi Smart City Mission

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that a new chapter is being added to the prosperity of Varanasi. He informed that the foundation stone of a passenger ropeway has been laid while other projects worth hundreds of crores have also been initiated for the all-around development of Varanasi which includes sectors like drinking water, health, education, Ganga Cleanliness, flood control, police services and sports services among others. He also informed that the foundation stone of the Center of Excellence on Machine Tools Design has been laid at BHU which adds another institution of global standards to the city.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the new development projects related to tourism and the beautification of the city. “Be it roads, bridges, railways or airports, the connectivity to Varanasi has completely eased”, the Prime Minister said as he pointed out that the new ropeway project will take the connectivity in the city to a new level. 

The Prime Minister also talked about the New ATC tower at Babatpur Airport as a step for strengthening the air connectivity with Kashi. The Prime Minister also touched upon the development of floating jetty and underlined that the main focus point has been the needs of pilgrims and tourists. Under the Namami Gange Mission, the Prime Minister informed that a sewage treatment network has been established in all cities on the banks of the Ganges.
