‘SPARK’ is a corporate social responsibility initiative promoted by INOXCVA, a leader in delivering Cryogenic storage, distribution & transportation solutions worldwide. The Cryogenic industry has a huge demand of Welding professionals, which is primarily a male dominated profession, women were not seen in this area of work. As a part of Woman empowerment & gender equality initiatives, INOXCVA have collaborated with ITM
Baroda University (ITMBU), Jarod, Vadodara in developing up an on-campus Skilled Development & Welding Excellence Centre. The company identifies Girl Welders to learn Welding and related soft skills. INOX India bares all expenses of training & hostel facilities and also pays stipend to the girl welders to help them in alleviating the poverty and overcoming the economic constraints. At the end of training, all female welders are absorbed by INOX India in employment. These female welders are provided on-job
exposure to weld different types of products. Response to this initiatives is very encouraging and these welders are enjoying their job being a part of manufacturing operations. INOX India keeps taking feedback from these welders to improve it further.
This is small step of INOX India towards giant leap in empowering woman in welding & manufacturing industry which is mainly dominated by males. Looking at the initiatives of INOX India for women development & gender equality, nearby industries are also motivated to opt such initiatives. Same is also encouraged & supported by Government of Gujarat towards women employment. Mitisha Chauhan, Nisha Parmar, Lata vankar, Parvati Parmar, Asha Parmar WOMEN IN WELDING WELDFAB 39 JUNE – JULY 2022 TECH TIMES
